Summer in Vrchlabí
Summer months are marked by leisure, holidays, new experiences. You can find a little bit of everything in a small town in the middle of the Krkonose Mountains. Go to Vrchlabí for a walk with curious children, for knowledge that will enrich even the connoisseurs of history, for experiences and active movement, for comfort and culinary experiences. Vrchlabí is alive and well and the well-being of locals and visitors is well taken care of.
Guided tours of Vrchlabí monuments
Visit with a guide the most interesting sights of Vrchlabí, which only open in summer. See the interiors of St. Lawrence Church and St. Augustine's Monastery Church, take a tour of the palace and get to know the palace chapel of the Czernins-Morzins.
The hydroelectric power station on Square Míru
Míru Square is decorated with the artwork Water Power Station by Lubomir Typlt from Nová Paka, installed for a year. It was lent to the town of Vrchlabí by the gallery EPO1 of the Kasper family from Trutnov. Modern art in public space traditionally arouses a lot of emotions, but above all it is a challenge to think.
The Tripsi Summer Cinema
In the summer cinema on the grounds of the Černín-Morzin chateau chapel you can look forward to open-air screenings every Thursday and Friday. The first screening is scheduled for 4 July and the last for 31 August.
Turn the crank of the poesiomat
Listen to a variety of sounds related to Vrchlabí. The metal tube will offer you a soundtrack from the film when you turn the crank.
Hoří, má panenko, the murmuring and roaring of the Elbe River, or recordings of the Olympic medal rides of local natives Karolína Erbanová and Eva Samková. You can enjoy poems by local artists, Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and one of the Krkonoše fairy tales.
Churches open to visitors
The monastery church of St. Augustine and the church of St. Lawrence will be open to visitors again during the summer holidays. Take advantage of the unique opportunity to explore the beautiful church premises in silence and solitude or with a guide.
Bubáček train
The tourist train Bubáček transports its passengers in Vrchlabí from 2 July throughout the summer. You can use the mountain routes with breathtaking views of Vrchlabí-Strážné, Vrchlabí-Benecko.
Guided tour of the palace and the palace chapel
The palace has served as the town hall for many years. However, some of the rooms still remind you of the palace times, which you can be transported to with guided tours of two monuments, the palace (entrance hall, library and knight's hall) and the palace chapel of the Černín-Morzins, every Thursday of the holidays from 3 pm.
Natural Swimming in Kacak Lake
The lake offers pleasantly cold water in hot summers, but only at swimmers’ own risk. You can access it from a grassy beach, wooden pier or an angler’s cabin in the middle of the lake. A sandy bottom can be found on the western shore. Changing huts, outdoor showers, toilets and refreshments are available along with a children’s playground.

Traditional summer festival of classical music in the heart of the Giant Mountains

The Vrchlabí Summer of Music is traditionally held in the monastery church of St. Augustine, the Baroque pearl of the Krkonoše Mountains and the necropolis of the Morzin family.
