The Krkonose Museum

The new Krkonossky National Park visitor centre follows up on the popular past exhibitions called Stone and Life and Man and the Mountains, in the Augustinian Monastery. The National Park Administration has created a new exhibition in the Krkonose Museum which documents the story of the Krkonose, reflecting both its unique nature and the coexistence of man and nature.

The new exposition from 2023 and the many topics it covers will be so engrossing that one day will not be enough. Using modern means, it will present the story of Krkonoše nature and its centuries-long coexistence with man. On 2500 m2 of exhibition space, you will see the entire mountains and their uniqueness, the development from the formation of the first rocks to the present day, walk under the Krkonoše waterfall, up the helix-shaped DNA staircase and discover many historical connections.

You can enjoy a visit to the Krkonoše Museum in the modern Black and Wine café located in the heart of the museum. The interior is designed in this spirit. There is an original design, a selection of coffee, delicious wines from the Bílkovi family winery in Velké Bílovice, seasonal drinks and great desserts.

Go to the museum with your children and stay for three days

Don't be afraid to take the children to the Krkonoše Museum. There is a game for them that will guide them through the entire exhibition, animals and fun interactive elements. You can spend 1 hour or a whole day here. In addition, a one-day ticket is also valid in the museum in the four historic houses on náměstí Míru.

Did you like the museum and would you like to add? You can buy a joint ticket to the museums in Vrchlabí, Jilemnice and Paseky nad Jizerou. The ticket is valid in all the museums mentioned above on the day of purchase and the two immediately following visiting days.

Be sure to also visit the monastery garden, offering partitioned flowerbeds, old regional varieties of fruit trees, a barefoot multi-textured path, an open-air geotrail, a comfortable summerhouse, and a station for handicapped animals. In summer you can refresh yourself in a little brook flowing through the garden, which is actually an uncovered old flume from the River Labe.

You can use the car park in Dobrovskeho St., buses will find a better car park near the Strelnice culture centre. Come for a walk through the historic centre of Vrchlabi.
