Hydroelectric power plant by Lubomir Typlt
The artwork Water Power Station by Lubomír Typlt is installed on the church square (náměstí Míru) in Vrchlabí for a year. It was lent to the town of Vrchlabí by the great gallery EPO1 of the Kasper family from Trutnov. Modern art in public space traditionally arouses a lot of emotions, but above all it is a challenge to think.
The director of the EPo1 Centre for Contemporary Art offered to lend the artwork to our city. During a personal visit, he evaluated the area of the Square as a suitable place to place a work called Water Power Station. The city only paid for transportation. The location of the artwork on the square is in a similar location to where another artwork called The Throne was located in the past.
Art in space
Power for Space
As the name suggests, this is a project that goes beyond the gallery space itself.
"Space" is something like an unappreciated work of art, like a canvas without which nothing would exist. Seeing art in the context of space in all its diversity brings the potential to expand the experience to a whole new dimension. So why reduce it to a single building? Thus, one of the activities of the EPO1 gallery is the installation of sculptures in public spaces, where they can be encountered by both casual passers-by and art lovers walking purposefully towards them.
